This qualification is designed to provide leaners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

The qualification provides learners with an understanding in the responsibilities of employers and employees, the benefits of good health & safety, steps to a risk assessment and how they can reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in a workplace, common causes of accidents, near misses and ill-health, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill-health.

Health & Safety Risk Assessment

As an employer, you’re required by law to protect your employees, and others, from harm.

Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the minimum you must do:

Identify what could cause injury or illness in your business (hazards) decide how seriously (the risk) take action to eliminate the hazard, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk.


Fire Risk Assessment

What is a Fire Risk Assessment ?

A careful look at your premises and the people who use them, from a fire prevention perspective. It’s about understanding the potential risks, then improving your fire safety precautions to keep people safe.


Why do it ?

A Fire Risk Assessment is a legal requirement. If you are responsible for a building, owner or occupier pf premises that aren’t a ‘single privatr dwelling’ (a private home), you need to make sure a suitably competent person completes a Fire Risk Assessment. It is your duty to identify fire risks and hazards in your premises and takae appropriate action.
